Owner & Part Time Doula

  • My name is Emily Thompson and I am the founder and owner of The Birthkeeping Co.. As a DONA-certified doula, I am passionate about partnering with women by helping them find their voices in both birth and motherhood. I believe mothers should be empowered with the information needed to make sound decisions for themselves and their babies. Pregnancy, Delivery, and Postpartum can feel both overwhelming and vulnerable. My goal is to support you and your family emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically throughout these seasons. My dream of becoming a doula began when I stepped into motherhood myself. I feel most myself when I am immersed within the pregnancy, birth, and newborn world. These seasons are sacred and I consider it an immense joy and honor when invited into a mom's birthing space.

Aside from doula work, you can find me snuggling my babies, Roeby Jane, Briggs, and Townes, whipping up a homemade meal, or reorganizing my entire house on a whim (oops!). My husband, John, is my rock and my biggest supporter and advocate. My family is my whole world and I am honored daily that they are mine. I am passionate about homemaking and what it means to support my family holistically. I have a frequent itch to travel, and when we're able to do so, it's something I find incredibly restful and life-giving! And finally, my faith in Jesus is truly at the core of who I am and all I do. Now that you know a little bit about me, I am looking forward to learning about who you are!

Part Time Doula

  • My name is Sydney Palacio Diaz! I grew up in San Diego, CA and moved to Louisville, KY as a young teenager. I was originally a math teacher, but was completely transformed by my first pregnancy and birth experience. I had my first at home after a long and challenging 40+ hour labor; though it was incredible and empowering, it would have made a huge difference to have a doula there to see me through. This sparked a desire to give other women the support I wish I would have had. I did my first doula training with ToLABOR when my oldest was about a year old. I have since been trained and certified by BBTW. I also made sure to have a doula present at my second home birth, and can say firsthand: there is truly nothing that compares to women supporting women.

My goal is to provide emotional, physical, spiritual, and educational support throughout your pregnancy, labor, and birth. I am also here to advocate that your care be evidence-based and patient-centered. My desire is for you to leave your birth experience feeling confident and empowered as you enter in to the next stage of your motherhood. Every birth I attend makes me more and more passionate about this work.

When I’m not supporting women as a doula or home birth assistant, you will probably find me hanging with my husband and my boys, cooking or baking sourdough bread, reading a good book, attempting to learn piano, or trying to catch up on laundry. I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you!

  • Hello!  I’m Esther. I gave birth for the first time nearly 15 years ago. It changed my life forever and sparked in me a desire to support women through the transformational journey into motherhood. Ten years ago I began supporting friends in their births and I read books on birth just for fun!  I decided that maybe I wanted to do this for more than just a hobby. I decided to become a prenatal yoga teacher as a way to support women and families and shortly after I completed that training I went forward with my doula training through DONA. In 2022 I began the path to become a lactation consultant (IBCLC) and in the summer of 2025 passed my board exam!

Through prenatal yoga, I guide women in connecting with their bodies, building strength and flexibility, and preparing for childbirth. As a lactation consultant, I offer compassionate support and evidence-based guidance to help mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. And as a doula, I provide emotional, physical, and informational support throughout the perinatal period. My passion is to empower women to embrace their innate strength and navigate the challenges and joys of motherhood with confidence and grace.

Often you can find me running my four kids to their activities, singing karaoke, or on a walk with my husband. My favorite pastime is reading a book in my hammock. I consider myself an extroverted book nerd who always has a book in her bag and an audiobook on her phone! I am excited to partner with you on this beautiful journey of birth and new beginnings.

Part Time Doula

Part Time Doula

  • Hi there! My name is Lizzie, and I am so excited to be here on the team of amazing women at The BirthKeeping Co. What an honor!  Pregnancy, birth, and motherhood have always been something very near to my heart. A lot of my teens and twenties were spent helping moms out in various ways, especially with their children. I had a small dream back then to get into birth, but it wasn’t the right time. Over the years, and especially growing into motherhood myself, that dream became stronger. I finally decided to become a birth doula after putting it off for a while. I got certified through Childbirth International, and have had years of learning on my own too. I am so excited and ready to come alongside more moms as they birth their sweet babies. I believe all mothers should have people around them helping to carry them through this special and profound time in their lives, regardless of how they choose to birth. I want moms to feel securely held in the arms of God during this time. Having had 3 very different birth experiences myself (cesarean and 2 VBACs), I know how important my doulas were to me. I hope I can be that for you. It would be the biggest honor.

Other than being a Doula, I spend almost all of my time with my children and my husband. I am a mom to three amazing kids (10, 8 and 3.5) and wife to the kindest most supportive husband, Mat. We live in Mount Washington, Ky and have been here for the last 5 years. If I’m not homeschooling my kids or taking them around to all of their activities, you can find us hanging out as a family or with friends and spending time outside.

I am so happy to come alongside you in this very special time in your lives.

SOME Of the moms we’ve had the privilage of supporting

  • Kelci

“Emily was incredible during our whole pregnancy and birth. She truly makes you feel like you are making the decisions and she is providing support and knowledge. My husband and I were so grateful to have her on our birth team for the birth of our first child. She was such a blessing.” - Kelci

  • Atele

“My first birth experience (I didn’t have a doula) was really traumatic. The doctor had me induced on the due date, and after failing to progress, I had to have an emergency c-section. After this I started to think that perhaps my body couldn’t give birth naturally. Through Emily’s positive encouragement, I came to believe and embrace that my body could give birth naturally and that this birth experience could be different. Emily was there encouraging and giving physical support during my labor. She really helped me get into the right positions to help bring my son into this world.” - Atele

  • Caroline

“Emily was the calming presence that tempered the sting of anxiety and allowed for my birth experience to be a powerful moment of immediate bonding with my baby. Emily is nurturing, kind, and full of the purest intentions of taking care of us mommas. I am over the moon she was a part of bringing my son into this world!” - Caroline

  • Lily

“Emily was a much needed source of support & comfort in our birthing space. After feeling very under prepared for my first son’s birth, I knew I wanted someone to be there devoted to our desires for the second child. She went above and beyond to make sure both my and my husband were comfortable during and afterwards. We loved working with Em.” - Lily

“She helped me understand what I needed for birth and postpartum but even more so how to emotionally prepare. She has empowered me to view birth as a beautiful thing and motherhood without fear.”

Erica H.

“If there is anyone you’d want to have on your side through pregnancy and beyond, it’s Emily. She supported me through pregnancy, answered all my questions, and was there for me postpartum after a surprising and traumatic birth. She also helped me with breastfeeding and pumping and referred me to all the right people when needed.”

Kenzie H.

“Emily has strong gifts of encouragement, empathy, honesty, and reliability - all of which help to make her an incredibly supportive doula who will always prioritize and advocate for your birth needs/wishes. I would recommend her as a doula to any mom, whether it’s your first birth or not.”
